CRWM Volunteer Corps

 

Thank you for your interest in the Come Read with Me program.  We are passionate about life-long learning and strive to provide classes and activities which promote continued cognitive function, real life application and appropriate social interaction.  In order to provide each student an opportunity to work on specific skills, develop certain talents or explore new interests, our Volunteer Corps is ESSENTIAL!

That’s why you are so valuable.  You found us because you choose to fill your life with positive activities to enrich your life and those of others, as well. That’s why you are so busy.  But we know you will blessed by joining our mission and because we value your time and talents, we strive to allow our volunteers many options. Volunteers may choose to volunteer to the extent that they are available. 

 

You might choose to teach a particular class if you may attend on a regular basis (or team-teach!)  Other volunteers may choose the work on individual or one-time projects.  Many times the most important mission a volunteer may make is to speak well of our program in the community and help locate resources and opportunities for our school.

 CLASSES

Come Read with Me offers a variety of classes throughout the year.  Volunteers may teach a class, act as an aide in the class, prepare materials, or give students a ride to class. A monthly class schedule is available to pick up at the school or online at www.comereadwithme.us.  Volunteer teachers may participate in classes of their choosing based on expertise, interest and availability. 

 DONATIONS

Come Read with Me class cost is based on a $10 per hour rate.  Most of the classes offered are 2 hours/$20 per class.  Specialized classes such as Cooking and Art are generally 1.5 hours and require an additional $5 materials fee/$20 per class.  Individual lessons and private tutoring vary in cost according to teacher and teaching level. While that may appear costly, the charge does not cover the cost of rent or office staff.

Our passion for life-long learning extends to all students. For that reason the Mel Ruth Aikin Scholarship Fund was created so that every student who has the desire to learn is given that opportunity.  Many of our students are living with retired parents and may be receiving no services.  Others remain on waiting lists, unable to access services or funding.  Please consider donating to the Come Read with Me Scholarship Fund as a regular pledge.  Remember, Come Read with Me is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization. Your donations are tax deductible.
